Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer [life], being [both] alert and intent in [your praying] with thanksgiving. Colossians 4: 2

Take Heed To Warfare ! by E. Davenport February, 2014

February 28, 2014

If you are going to fight warfare, you have to use something stronger…The Bible Is Stronger!   Do not go into battle defenseless!

Ephesians 6:10-17 “[10] Finally, brethren, be strengthened in the Lord, and in the might of his power. [11] Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. [12] For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and power, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places. [13] Therefore take unto you the armour of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and to stand in all things perfect. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of justice, [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: [16] In all things taking the shield of faith, wherewith you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one. [17] And take unto you the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit (which is the word of God).”

Dismantling The Devil! By Elaine Davenport November, 2013

November 1, 2013

It could probably be a series since it can’t be told in one shot.     (I guess it is already) ADismantling The devil began to come after me in my sleep.I am not alone.  I hear from a plethora of people who say the same thing. I want to tell you what I do!

1.  His purpose is to steal  your faith and put fear in you.

2. His attack is generally on the mind…but not always.

3.  Nightmares   and bad dreams are usually representative (not always…sometimes they are warnings…but YOU have to pray feverishly).  For instance, last night I dreamed that a truck we own backed upon it’s own into a lady’s car.  I decided not to drive it and warned everyone else in our house.   But I am still praying  for clarity.   In another dream if I don’t wake up and stop it…and I don’t like the outcome…I just rewind it and give it an outcome where no one is harmed.  I control it!    Most of the time, I do not have bad dreams because I suppose they want to catch somebody off guard and I am not a  good candidate!

So  stay on guard, read the Word, Praise and pray!!!

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].  Ephesians 6: 12

You can’t trust him. He is not going to leave you alone.  He’s out to kill, steal and destroy.  He’s looking to pick someone off. He doesn’t mind using someone  you know to help him.   Who?   The devil. I mentioned this in the wrong setting and a few folks made a huge joke of it.  I’m sure the devil made a note of it.  Truth is…tonight   I  prayed  for those people.

Ephesians 6: 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

1 Peter 5:8 – Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

Okay so I went to bed…to sleep no  less.

Something Good Can come out of the bad! by E. Davenport October, 2013

October 31, 2013

Last week I left my house to do a good deed ; despite some health challenges and walked right into a fiery trial.  I know that it was one of the devil’s snares to get me off track.I had been praying and studying and staying close to God  and then:POOF!   One…Two…Three…awful events happened and I sat numb jolted for a moment trying to make sense of it.   I eventually realized that in the first two events..I do not understand…but in the third…event…I know Satan was behind it…I am back to myself and next time…no numbness…just preparedness.    Stayin the Word!

James 1:2  Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,

1Peter 1:6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

You Have A Gift! by Gene McGuire September 30, 2013

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:17)
COMMENT: Are you familiar with the phrase: ” Talent on loan from God.” ? Some of you may recognize that as one of the favorite statements of talk show host Rush Limbaugh. When I first heard him say that I thought he was being extremely prideful and haughty. As I grew spiritually, I realized the truth of that statement. God gives us temporary possession of everything.  Of course the world doesn’t see it that way and many of us agreed with the world before Jesus opened our eyes. When I became an Agency Manager with Equitable Life I gave myself all the credit. Now as I look back through my “spiritually enlightened spectacles” I see things much differently. Well, my Heavenly Father graciously provided the talent and ability; but in addition He set me up with a wonderful mother, a brother and three sisters who continually prodded and encouraged me to achieve more and more.. . . by the way, they also spoiled me. Our Lead Scripture makes it clear that “talent” is not the only thing that is “on loan” from God. Have you ever seen a Hearst on its way to a cemetery followed by a moving van full of the personal effects of the deceased individual?
SCRIPTURE STUDY: Luke 12:15-21
UNWISE SAYING: HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS.
A WISE PRAYER: LORD HELP ME TO BE A GOOD STEWARD OF ALL YOUR GOODS YOU HAVE PUT INTO MY HANDS.

Let God Lead! by Gene McGuire August, 2013

LET GOD“WITH THE LOVE OF GOD, WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

“Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines although that was nearer. . .” (Exodus 13:17)
COMMENT: After Pharaoh finally let the Hebrew Children go to worship God, He (God) decided to take them the long way around. I suspect the Israelites were not familiar with the geography of the land, but if they had that knowledge, they probably would have reminded God that “the shortest distance between two points is a straight line”! The Lord knew what He was doing by sending them on an around-about way to their destination. He feared that His Children would “chicken out” if they were confronted by the belligerent Philistines and run back to Egypt. When Jesus went to Heaven, He sent us Christians the Holy Spirit to live in us. One of His jobs is to lead, direct and guide us. Sometimes it may seem that the route He indicates for us to take may not be logical; but just like the title of that sitcom of the 50’s indicates: “Father Knows Best“. Need more convincing?. . . .how about Psalm 37:23: “The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in his way.”
SCRIPTURE STUDY: Proverbs 3:6, John 16:13,14
WISE SONG LYRICS: MAKER OF MY SOUL, I GIVE YOU FULL CONTROL. WHEREVER YOU MAY LEAD I WILL FOLLOW. I HAVE MADE THE CHOICE TO LISTEN FOR YOUR VOICE WHEREVER YOU MAY LEAD I WILL GO.
